About the event

Developing new regions through access to energy

Data Centre Energy Summit Iberia brings together the organisations determining where—and how—the next generation of data centres will be built across Spain and Portugal.

AI and cloud investment are creating unprecedented demand for digital infrastructure. However, access to secure, scalable and commercially viable power is increasingly deciding which projects progress and which regions attract investment.

The Summit will examine how Iberia’s energy resources can support new data centre locations, connecting operators and developers with the energy, infrastructure, investment and public-sector partners required to turn regional potential into deliverable projects.

Why Iberia?

Spain and Portugal combine significant renewable generation, strategic international connectivity and a growing pipeline of data centre and AI infrastructure investment.

Established markets remain important, but development is increasingly extending towards regions where power, land and infrastructure can be secured at scale.

Iberia’s opportunity is to build new digital infrastructure clusters around access to energy—creating investable projects and long-term economic value for their host regions.

Focus areas

The new data centre map

Where are Iberia’s next data centre regions, and what combination of energy, land, connectivity and public-sector support makes a location viable?

Access to power

Understanding grid capacity, connection certainty, network development and the practical route from an energy opportunity to an operational data centre.

Firm, scalable energy

Combining renewable generation with storage, flexible demand, long-term power agreements, on-site generation and other solutions capable of supporting continuous operations.

Regional development

Using data centre investment to support regional growth, infrastructure, employment, skills and new energy and technology ecosystems.

Delivering the site

Addressing land, planning, permitting, fibre, construction, cooling, water availability and resilience from the beginning of the development process.

Bankable development

Creating projects that align operator requirements with energy supply, infrastructure delivery, investment timescales and commercial certainty.
